The trek begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and then continues through villages like Phakding, Namche, and Thame before reaching Lungden. From Lungden, you will cross the high mountain passes of Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La, each providing breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayas. Renjo La (5,340m) offers stunning views of Everest and Makalu, while Cho La (5,420m) connects the Khumbu to the Gokyo region. The final pass, Kongma La (5,535m), offers excellent views of the entire region.
After crossing these passes, the route takes you to Everest Base Camp (5,364m), where you can experience the awe-inspiring presence of the world’s tallest mountain. The climb to Kala Patthar (5,545m) the next day offers an unforgettable sunrise view of Everest. The trek culminates with the ascent of Island Peak before descending back via Chukhung and completing the circuit with a return trek to Lukla.
